Deborah Tolu-Kolawole Defends Pastor Kumuyi’s Optimism for Nigeria’s Future

Pastor W.F Kumuyi, the respected leader of the Deeper Life Bible Church, has recently been at the center of a public debate following his remarks that have been interpreted by some as a show of support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

During a recent interview, Pastor Kumuyi urged Nigerians to embrace a fresh perspective, saying, “Let’s leave the past behind. This marks a new day, and I believe – we all believe – that we are poised to witness new developments for our nation through our President and the members of the cabinet. Positive occurrences will transpire… the Lord Himself will bring about this transformation within their hearts.”

These statements have sparked a wave of reactions on social media, with some critics questioning the pastor’s support for the current government. However, Deborah Tolu-Kolawole took to Twitter to clarify and defend Pastor Kumuyi’s remarks, emphasizing that his words were not a blanket endorsement of the administration but rather a prayerful hope for the nation’s future.

Deborah pointed out that Pastor Kumuyi was responding thoughtfully to questions posed by journalists, aiming to convey hope rather than pessimism. She questioned, “Would you have preferred Pastor Kumuyi to declare that Nigeria will collapse and be ruined?” Deborah argued that the pastor’s response was rooted in wisdom, accompanied by sincere prayers for the new administration’s success. “What else should he have said?” she added.

In essence, Pastor Kumuyi’s outlook on the new administration is one of cautious optimism. Despite public criticism, his response reflects his unwavering faith and commitment to the nation’s progress. He firmly believes in a positive transformation under President Tinubu’s leadership, praying for divine intervention to guide the country’s leaders toward a brighter futur
