Bishop Mike Okonkwo, the presiding bishop of The Redeemed Evangelical Mission (TREM), ushered in the New Year with an inspiring and uplifting thanksgiving service that saw thousands of worshippers gather in celebration and gratitude. The event, held on Sunday, January 5, at TREM’s headquarters in Lagos, was a joyous occasion marked by powerful prayers, exuberant worship, and a message of hope for the year ahead.
In his sermon, Bishop Okonkwo emphasized the importance of starting the year with thanksgiving, reminding attendees that gratitude is the key to unlocking God’s blessings. “As we enter into this new year, it is essential to recognize that our victory, success, and protection come from God alone. We must be thankful for His faithfulness in the past and trust that He will guide us through the year ahead,” he said, urging the congregation to begin 2025 with hearts full of praise.
The service was filled with dynamic praise and worship, with the TREM choir leading the congregation in spirited songs that echoed through the church. Several testimonies were shared, as church members gave thanks for the divine provision and protection they experienced in 2024.
Special prayers were offered for the nation, for peace and prosperity, and for individuals and families to experience God’s divine favor in the coming year. Bishop Okonkwo also called for unity among Nigerians, encouraging all to work together for the common good of the country.
The event was a powerful reminder of the strength that comes from faith and community, with attendees leaving the service inspired and renewed, ready to face the challenges and opportunities of 2025.
