Opening Scripture:
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away, behold, all things have become new.”
2 Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV)
Introduction:
Who are you? Before you answer with your job title, your tribe, your past, or your pain, pause and ask: What does God say about me?
Many believers today struggle with insecurity, fear, guilt, and a sense of worthlessness not because God hasn’t spoken, but because we haven’t embraced who we are in Him.
Today, let’s journey through Scripture to discover and affirm your true identity in Christ.
1. You Are a New Creation
“If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation…” 2 Corinthians 5:17
This means your past doesn’t define you Jesus does. You are no longer your mistakes, addictions, or generational labels. You are born anew spiritually reborn with new potential, purpose, and peace.
2. You Are God’s Child
“But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God…” John 1:12
You are not an orphan in the spirit. You have a Father. You are adopted, accepted, and deeply loved. This gives you access to His promises, protection, and presence.
3. You Are Chosen and Set Apart
“But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people…” 1 Peter 2:9
You were handpicked by God, not an accident or afterthought. You’re royalty not because of your background, but because of the bloodline of Christ.
4. You Are Righteous
“For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” 2 Corinthians 5:21
You are not condemned. You are not dirty. In Christ, you are clothed in righteousness not self-righteousness, but His righteousness. You can approach God boldly, not fearfully.
5. You Are Victorious
“Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.” Romans 8:37
You are not defeated. You are not broken beyond repair. You are more than a conqueror that means you don’t just survive the battle, you win it with purpose.
6. You Are God’s Masterpiece
“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works…” Ephesians 2:10
You are not random. You were crafted with intention. You have gifts, beauty, purpose and God delights in you.
Conclusion:
Your identity isn’t in your past, your performance, or other people’s opinions. It is rooted in Christ.
When you know who you are, you’ll stop trying to perform for acceptance, and start living from a place of assurance.
Call to Action:
- Receive your identity by faith.
- Reject false labels and lies from the enemy.
- Reflect your identity daily in speech, actions, and choices.
Final Scripture to Declare Boldly:
“I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me.” Galatians 2:20
Let’s Pray:
Father, thank You for making us new in Christ. Help us walk in the truth of who we are chosen, loved, righteous, and victorious. May our identity in You shape our destiny. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
